WOO HOO!!! My First Post!

Good Morning!!!
Please let me first apologize for my lacking blogging abilities-- I have never blogged before so you'll have to bear with me Ü
I'll try to keep it to quilting but I am sure my daily life will creep in here and then there I'll be-- all exposed!

I went to the Sully Quilt Show yesterday. It's an annual one day quilt show here in Virginia at the Sully Plantation. There are some beautiful antique quilts on display and for sale as well as a nice group of vendors with all sorts of fabric, notions, treasures, books, etc. to sell.

As usual, I had more fun than I am allowed!

I went with my friend Debbie and I think we were the last two people to leave the show ;-0!
I bought a beautiful 50's appliqué quilt top. It's hand pieced and almost in perfect condition! It has three very tiny stains on it and two very small holes. The border is stuffed with wool in the scallops... I have no idea why someone would do that except for the fact that maybe someone used it as a decorative coverlet at one time and felt the edges needed to have some sort of finishing on them instead of the raw edge. Have any of you ever seen that done before?

I plan on removing that border facing piece and the wool. I'm not sure if I will quilt it or not. I'm not keeping it as a museum piece so I'm not concerned with taking away the aged value of the quilt.

The first picture is of the whole quilt top. I couldn't take it any closer because it's a good sized quilt. I haven't measured it but by looking I will guess it will cover the top of a queen bed with an inch or two overhang.

The second picture is of the stuffed wool in the border scallop.

grace joy peace...
faith hope & love,

Till next time...
